All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

LIVE OUT the WORD!

Experiencing worship shapes my belief that through worship, I am ushered into the presence of God. John 4:23-24

Most of us would probably agree that listening or singing the right music can bring us into the presence of God. Therefore we associate worship with hymns or worship music. We have put together a playlist of the worship songs Calvary has played during weekend services.

Worship can also be expressed in many ways . . . You can do anything and do it unto the Lord! Whether you choose to go on hike and admire His glory or take your least favorite task (kids . .  like brushing your teeth, parents . . . like your finances) and do them for God! We encourage you to pray about how the Lord is calling YOU to worship!

“American culture is probably the hardest place in the world to learn to pray. We are so busy that when we slow down to pray, we find it uncomfortable. We prize accomplishment, production. But prayer is nothing but talking to God. It feels useless, as if we are wasting time. Every bone in our bodies screams, ‘Get to work.’” – Paul Miller [from A Praying Life]

If you have prayer request please email [email protected].

You can also drop a prayer request in the prayer box in the foyer or the offering boxes.

Below are some practical ways to LIVE OUT Prayer in your daily life.

Fixed Hour of Prayer (The Daily Office)

“Fixed-hour prayer…gives us a way to anchor our daily lives in rhythms of prayer, Scripture reading, and silence, ensuring that we do not get too far into any day without orienting or reorienting ourselves to the presence of God in our lives.” – Ruth Halley Barton

Morning – Pray a Psalm

Psalm 103:1-5 (ESV)

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Noon –  Pray the Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13 (ESV)]

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Evening – Prayer of the Daily Examine

  • Become aware of God’s presence.
  • Review the day with gratitude.
  • Pay attention to your emotions. Boredom? Elation? Resentment? Compassion? Anger? Confidence? What is God saying through these feelings?
  • Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
  • Look toward tomorrow.
The Jesus Prayer

There is a book called The Way of the Pilgrim. It is the story of a unnamed peasant who seeks out someone who will teach him how to fulfill the biblical command to “pray without ceasing.” He wanders through Russia and Siberia seeking out church authorities and religious people…He is about to come away empty handed when at last he meets someone who teaches him the Jesus Prayer.

“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.”

He learns to repeat it as many as 12,000 times a day without effort.

The Gethsemane Prayer

Matthew 26:39 (ESV)

39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

The Exile’s Prayer

Daniel 3:17(ESV)

…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

LIVE IT OUT by experiencing God through giving our resources shapes the belief in “everything I own belongs to God.”

Treasures in Heaven
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-21

Simply put. . . “We Are Better Together”.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5

We are not called to do life alone. There are many opportunities LIVE IT OUT in Community at Calvary.

Rooted is your Next Step for group life!

We also have incredible opportunities to connect with others at events.  See our events below.

But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:43-45

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. Phil 2:3-5

1 Peter 3:15.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
